Its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activity is useful in the treatment of ophthalmia. It helps in healing ulcers in case of Pyoderma gangrenosum. It has shown in-vitro anti-oxidant activity. It is effective in preventing super-oxide induced hemolysis of the red blood cells. It also prevents lipid peroxidation induced by Fe3+/ADP/Ascorbate system in liver mitochondria.
